Meighan Creek Maintenance
Meighan Creek Maintenance
The City of Armstrong experienced severe flooding events during Spring 2017 and 2018 and asked Gentech to help with a mitigation strategy for future freshets. Gentech retained its environmental sub-consultant, Western Water Associates Ltd., and developed and implemented a plan that consisted of dredging, invasive plant removal, and riparian area restoration along the Meighan Creek channel, for a distance of approximately 1.2km through the downtown area. Additional civil works included:
- 1200mm culverts, complete with inlet structures
- Stormwater treatment (oils and sediment) manholes
Gentech was responsible for project coordination with other consultants, tendering, contract administration, site inspection, and liaison with city representatives, sub-consultants, and contractors. This project was completed in September 2019.
